Second Degree Options

Accelerated Second Degree Nursing Program (15 months)

The current application cycle is closed.
We will begin accepting applications again in August 1, 2018.

If you have decided you want to change to a career in nursing, and you want to finish the training quickly consider our accelerated second degree in nursing.

Program distinctives

  • 15-month program beginning in May and ending the following August.
  • Small summer courses
  • Mentoring and one-on-one relationships with faculty and other students
  • Summer study means you complete the program earlier than a traditional second-degree
  • Experience in clinical rotations and a variety of nursing settings.

How does the program work?

May-August

(No class Memorial Day and July 4)

August-December

Students in this program may find it difficult to work. You may also be expected to complete 12 hour and/or weekend clinical rotations.

In addition to clinical nursing courses, ASD students will need to complete the following EMU core curriculum courses:

  • Cross-cultural designate courses (may be transferred or satisfied by previous course work) (6 SH)
  • An Anabaptist Biblical Perspectives (ABP) course (3 SH) (only offered at EMU)
  • A senior seminar course (2 SH) (only offered at EMU)

Summer 2018

  • Orientation – May 14
  • Classes begin – May 15
  • Summer semester ends – August 3
  • No classes on May 28 (Memorial Day) and July 4
