Jackie Font-Guzman

Jackie Font-Guzmán, Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Jackie N. Font-Guzmán began serving as the inaugural Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in 2021. In 2022, she was appointed to Vice President of DEI. In her role, Jackie leads students, staff, and faculty in advancing DEI initiatives on campus.

Dr. Mary Jensen

Dr. Mary Jensen, Vice President for Enrollment and Strategic Growth

Mary Krahn Jensen was appointed as VP for enrollment and strategic growth in December of 2021. She served as associate provost of EMU at Lancaster from July 1, 2015 through 2021. Prior to that, she was employed for 18 years at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN.

Dr. Shawn Ramer, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Finance

Dr. Shawn Ramer joined EMU as its Chief Operating Officer on October 9th, 2023.  In this role, he works with leadership, staff, and faculty to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the University.  Shawn has extensive experience in leadership in large and small systems, organizational transformation, financial management, and technology innovation.  Shawn joined EMU as COO following two years on the EMU board of directors and three years on EMU’s President’s Second Century Advisory.  Shawn is a third-generation EMU graduate, where he earned a BA in chemistry. He also holds a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Alberta, and was a postdoctoral research fellow in biological chemistry and molecular pharmacology at Harvard Medical School.

Kirk Shisler, Vice President for Advancement

Kirk L. Shisler, was named vice president for advancement at Eastern Mennonite University, since 2005. Shisler, a 1981 EMU alum, oversees the 30-member advancement division.

Carrie Bert, director of athletics

Carrie Bert, Director of Athletics

Carrie S. Bert is Eastern Mennonite University's director of athletics. Bert, a former volleyball coach and player at EMU, served the previous two years as the assistant director of athletics and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), an NCAA-designated position for the highest-ranking female in each NCAA member’s athletics department. Bert has also served on the SWA Committee within the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). She began her role Aug. 1, 2022.
