Multicultural Student Services

Multicultural Student Services

A place that values difference

At EMU, a core value is intercultural understanding. Our tight-knit campus community welcomes diversity and recognizes the value of different ethnic backgrounds.

The Multicultural Services office provides leadership and learning opportunities for students of diverse backgrounds. We also develop opportunities and programs for the broader campus that highlight diversity, stimulate dialogue, and build lifelong relationships.

We want the entire community to better understand and appreciate each person’s culture, traditions and heritage.

Cords of Distinction

What we offer

Our office offers BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) students with resources, support, activities, and opportunities that celebrate their heritage and connect them with the larger campus community.

Our office consists of seven Program Assistants that are dedicated to implement meaningful and creative events for the campus.

Organizations and clubs

Some organizations of particular interest include Black Student Alliance (BSA), Latino Student Alliance (LSA), Asian-Pacific Islander Student Alliance (APISA), and Gospel Choir.

Programs and celebrations

Annual celebrations include Hispanic Heritage Month, Asian Pacific Islander Month, Martin Luther King Day of Serving and Learning, and Black History Month.

Through our office’s connection with local resources and mentoring agencies, BIPOC students will be empowered to succeed academically, socially and spiritually.
