Preparing for Medical School and Other Professional Health School Application Process

Students can take an MCAT or DAT Prep course as an elective credit.  

As if maintaining a strong GPA, building clinical/shadowing hours, and keeping a respectable volunteer schedule isn’t challenging enough, you also have to make time to adequately prepare for the MCAT. 

Premedical students mistakenly think that 2-4 months is enough time to review for and practice taking the MCAT; however, in reality, it is recommended that students spend 4-6 months of disciplined study in order to perform well.

When preparing for the MCAT, you should first assess your academic personality.  Do you struggle with discipline?  Are your time management skills lacking?  Do you procrastinate?  If the answer is yes to one or more of these questions, you should seriously consider an MCAT Prep course.

The MS in Biomedicine program has structured an MCAT Prep course into our curriculum.  Our online course is offered during the spring semester, and we use a highly reputable MCAT preparation company to guide you through your studies.  You will have access to a personalized study guide and schedule, “office hours” with very knowledgeable instructors, and numerous practices exams.  Because it is a part of your tuition, you can avoid the additional cost of enrolling in an MCAT prep program while carrying a full-time academic load. This course is a 3 credit pass/fail course which counts as elective credit.  

 

The MS in Biomedicine program has formed articulation agreements with several professional health schools. These agreements accelerate the application process for highly qualified students who meet the requirements of a specific program.

Your advisor will meet with you regularly to ensure your course requirements are being met and to provide guidance in the application process. Because our program is small, our faculty will have the ability to write personalized recommendation letters for you. The documents below are used to gather information in order to effectively speak to your strengths, your accomplishments, and to demonstrate your growth. These documents must be completed to receive a faculty committee recommendation letter.
