Prepare for licensure with a supportive professional learning community

Increasingly, diverse schools are facing a decline in traditionally-prepared teachers. The Teaching and Learning Certificate will equip individuals who are motivated to enter the field of education by providing tools and training in effective and inclusive classroom teaching.

Through the foundational curriculum and instruction courses, our program fosters relationships, community-building and belonging and will provide educators with the important knowledge and skills to meet the needs of their students. From addressing social and ethical issues in the classroom to supporting positive classroom behavior and human growth and development, these courses will enable new teachers to serve confidently and lead in a global context while making a difference in their classroom.

Courses within this certificate can apply towards the Master of Arts in Education degree if you choose to further your studies.

This certificate coursework meets the requirements of the Virginia Department of Education for provisional licensing.
