General SPI Scholarships

General scholarship support is awarded on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted. These scholarships are applied directly to the cost of tuition, and are not able to be used for lodging, meals, or transportation related expenses. Scholarship awards are communicated alongside your admission decision within three weeks of your application.

Partial Scholarship

Need-based awards of up to $1,000 toward tuition for one course. Awards are based on financial need and a review of your full SPI application.
Matching Scholarship

Pay tuition for one course, and SPI covers tuition for one additional course if you enroll in two courses, or two additional courses if you enroll in three. Awards are based on financial need and a review of your full SPI application.

SPI Fellowships

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the following SPI Fellowships have been created to provide more encompassing support for our participants.

Fellowships are the only opportunity for full funding, but they are limited in number and application deadlines are strictly enforced. Please see below for the requirements and deadlines for our SPI Fellowships.

*Note: You must complete separate fellowship application to be considered for the following fellowships. If you apply for but are not awarded an SPI Fellowship you will be considered for a General Scholarship.

Winston Fellowship
Four Winston Fellowships are available for participants who are new to the frameworks of peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and restorative justice, or who have not previously had access to formal training in these areas. Applicants may have experience in related fields such as community organizing, social justice, or development. To be eligible, applicants must have an organizational sponsor with whom they will complete an internship after participating in SPI.

The Winston Fellowship covers participation in three SPI courses, including course and materials fees, round-trip travel, accommodation, meals, health insurance if needed, and visa fees. Travel and visa expenses are reimbursed. The organizational sponsor also receives $500 to provide to the participant for living and other expenses during the internship.
- Apply here after after completing this SPI application. The SPI team will contact your organizational sponsor for additional details and confirmation of your internship plans. Up to two fellowships will be awarded from applications submitted by December 17, 2026. Remaining awards will be selected from all complete applications submitted by January 30, 2027.
Seminary Extended Fellowship for Pastoral and Denominational Leadership
This fellowship, provided by Seminary Extended, supports pastors, chaplains, lay ministry leaders, and denominational leaders seeking practical skills to address conflict, trauma, polarization, and change in their congregations and communities. Priority will be given to leaders serving underrepresented, rural, small, or under-resourced congregations and networks with limited access to professional development.

Approximately four to six fellowships are anticipated for SPI 2027. Awards are tailored to individual financial circumstances and may cover up to 100% of tuition, travel, lodging, and meals. Selection will consider financial need, leadership experience or potential, community needs, intended application of the learning, and access to other funding.
- Apply here after after completing this SPI application. Fellows will work with the SPI team to identify courses that connect with their ministry context and learning goals, with opportunities to study conflict transformation, restorative justice, trauma awareness and resilience, facilitation, and leadership. Applications will be reviewed and awards made on a rolling basis until all fellowship funds have been allocated. We encourage you to apply early.
