Guaranteed Admission Agreements

EMU has Guaranteed Admission Agreements with Blue Ridge Community College (VA), Hesston College (KS), and Lord Fairfax Community College (VA). You may be eligible for an additional grant if you complete a letter of intent.

  • Blue Ridge Community College

    Guaranteed Admission Agreement

    • EMU will guarantee the acceptance of all transferable credits earned from the associate degree program at Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC). A maximum of 65 credits from two-year colleges may be applied to degree requirements at EMU.
    • Completion of a transfer-appropriate degree will satisfy all general education requirements at EMU with the exception of a three-credit Bible & Religion requirement, a two-credit Senior Seminar, and the EMU intercultural learning requirement.
    • Once admitted, students participating in the agreement should follow all special academic department/program application procedures and deadlines if applicable.

    Benefits of the Agreement

    • The EMU application fee will be waived for BRCC students enrolled through this agreement.
    • Transfer students may qualify for financial aid opportunities at EMU. This includes transfer merit aid based on college GPA scores, a special BRCC transfer bonus grant, and the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG). Other financial aid may also be available.
    • An additional benefit will include access to EMU athletic events. Any BRCC student may attend any home game free of charge by presentation of a current, valid BRCC student ID card.

    Eligibility

    • Students must be degree seeking at BRCC and have formally applied to graduate from a transfer-oriented degree program at BRCC with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher upon application and upon graduation from BRCC.
    • Students must earn a grade of C or higher in each BRCC course applicable to the transfer-oriented associate degree program.
    • Students should complete and sign a Guaranteed Admission Agreement Letter of Intent at least one semester prior to enrollment at EMU.
    • BRCC students who do not meet the eligibility requirements are still welcome to apply for admission at EMU but are not guaranteed admission under this agreement.

  • Lord Fairfax Community College

    Guaranteed Admission Agreement

    • EMU will guarantee the acceptance of all transferable credits earned from the associate degree program at Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC). A maximum of 65 credits from two-year colleges may be applied to degree requirements at EMU.
    • Completion of a transfer-appropriate degree will satisfy all general education requirements at EMU with the exception of a three-credit Bible & Religion requirement, a two-credit Senior Seminar, and the EMU intercultural learning requirement.

  • Hesston College

    Transfer Agreement

    • Hesston students completing an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree will satisfy EMU Core Curriculum requirements as follows:
      • Complete one Bible/Religion course from a category designated "Christian Identity and Witness" (three credits.) This requirement may also be met by taking either of two courses while at Hesston: Anabaptist History and Thought or Peacemaking and Justice.
      • Complete the nine-credit intercultural requirement. All or part of this requirement may be completed by transferring appropriate courses from Hesston. Check with the EMU admissions counselor for details.
      • Complete the final course in the EMU general education program: CORE 401 Senior Seminar (two credits)
    • Hesston grades are not calculated into the EMU grade point average. Grades of "D" will transfer for students who complete the AA or AS degree but are subject to the same limitations that apply to "D" grades earned at EMU. Similarly, grades of "C-" are not sufficient to satisfy requirements in some EMU majors. See the EMU Catalog for details.
    • Students graduating with an Associate in Applied Arts and Sciences degree will have their courses evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Grades of "D" will not transfer. See the note above regarding Grades of "C-".
    • A maximum of 65 credits from two-year colleges may transfer to EMU.
