Harrisonburg & Lancaster Graduate Writing Coach
Mary Ann Zehr
I invite you to arrange a Zoom or face-to-face appointment in the Writing Center in Library 208. The most effective method for setting up an appointment with me is by email message at maryann.zehr@emu.edu. You may use Navigate to make an appointment but must confirm the appointment with an email message.
You are in charge of the paper you are writing and will make the decisions for how to revise it. We will work together on ideas for how to improve your paper. These ideas may include how to write strong sentences and paragraphs, how to organize a paper, how to make the writing flow well, how to incorporate evidence from sources to make a strong argument, how to cite sources, and how to edit a paper. If you lack confidence in academic writing, I hope to encourage you.
I am a writing instructor at Eastern Mennonite University, and I have taught writing to multilingual students at Blue Ridge Community College. Formerly I was a journalist for Education Week newspaper and a public high school teacher. I have master’s degrees in journalism and in curriculum and instruction (with a focus on Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I’m a part-time English PhD student in rhetoric, writing, and discourse studies at Old Dominion University, so I’ve read and written quite a few academic papers.
Whether we meet at the Graduate and Professional Studies Writing Center in Library 208 or by Zoom, I look forward to working with you.
