Intensive English Program
Performing in university-level classes requires a high level of English ability. To be admitted to an EMUdegree program, international students must hold an IELTS score of 6.5 and must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and achieve a score of at least 550 paper based or 79 internet based. Students whose score is less than 500 (61 internet-based) on the TOEFL exam are welcome to enroll in EMU’s Intensive English Program (IEP). The IEP helps students achieve the level of English skill required to succeed in a degree program. Upon successful completion of the IEP, up to 15 credits may be applied to a degree program.
