This work is intended to reconstruct typographic and symbolic forms, providing new
ways of seeing. The body of work elicits an allegorical experience for the viewer
offering a chance to question our relationships to the letter forms. The vintage printing
cuts, blocks and type are stripped down to mere form and then reassembled. Colors
traditionally associated with certain time periods tether the newly interpreted forms
to their origins. Although most of the forms are derived from letterpress traditions
the body also includes copperplate photo gravures, screen prints, and collagraphs
juxtaposed to these assemblages of vintage letter forms providing prompts for further
exploration.
