Financial Information

For EMU students, Washington Semester tuition is the same as on-campus tuition, and is paid to the EMU Business Office in the same way as any other semester. Room and board is the same as on-campus room and board. Commuter students should factor the cost of on-campus room and board into their financial planning for their term in DC.

All scholarships and financial aid follow you to DC (with the exception of summer term).  Furthermore, if you are work-study eligible and come to DC during the fall or spring semester, you can receive work-study as you would on campus for some of the hours you spend at your internship. Program events, a retreat, and transportation to and from internships are all included in the cost of your tuition, room and board.

Bethel students who  choose to remain enrolled at Bethel while at the EMU Washington Semester pay all costs directly to the Bethel Business Office. This includes a deposit, tuition, room and board, and the Washington Semester activity fee. See costs below.

Summer Term

Bethel students pay all costs directly to the Bethel Business Office.

Students will continue to receive eligible financial aid just as you would if you were taking classes on Bethel's campus. If you have questions regarding aid you may contact Bethel's financial aid office at 316-284-5232.

Bluffton students pay all costs directly to Bluffton. This includes the deposit, tuition, room and board, the program fee, and the Washington Semester activity fee. The $2000 program fee is charged by Bluffton University for doing an off-campus intercultural.

Summer Term

Bluffton students pay all costs directly to Bluffton.

If you have already participated in a semester program through Bluffton, no institutional aid will be awarded. Goshen students pay all costs directly to the Goshen's accounting office. This includes a deposit, tuition, room and board, and the Washington Semester activity fee. See costs below.

Summer Term

Goshen students can remain enrolled in Goshen College and pay all costs directly to the Goshen accounting office. The cost for the summer for Goshen students is the combination of Goshen's summer tuition, EMU's room and board, and the Washington Semester activity fee.

There is also an option for Goshen students to enroll in the Washington Semester as EMU guest students and pay EMU's summer fees. See EMU drop down menu above. Students then transfer their credits back to Goshen. For more information about this, please contact Ryan Good at ryan.good@emu.edu.
