Climate Action

In 2015, Eastern Mennonite University produced a climate action plan that recognized EMU’s contribution to the current environmental crisis and set forth specific steps that could be taken for EMU to reach climate neutrality by 2035. Three engineering students doing their senior capstone sought to join in this effort by building an interactive website to encourage informed action towards better climate awareness and ideally, climate neutrality on EMU's campus.

The goal of this project was to further conversation on EMU’s commitment to sustainability in addition to developing a tool that can be used by future groups at EMU for climate advocacy. There are three main goals for this website. The first is to be a resource for all members of EMU's community to easily access current carbon emissions data. The second is to provide general information to students about building energy usage on campus. The final goal is to highlight past projects that have been completed by various groups at EMU which have contributed to reducing EMU's carbon emissions.
