Campus Climate Survey

HEDS Logo EMU is conducting a Campus Climate survey in spring of the 2017-2018 academic year in order to ask students, faculty and staff about their perceptions of their EMU’s climate for unwanted sexual contact and sexual assault, their perceptions of how EMU responds to sexual assaults, and whether and how often they have experienced unwanted sexual contact or sexual assault.

We join many other U.S. colleges and universities in gathering data on this important issue. We are choosing to collaborate with other institutions in our research by using a survey developed and vetted by the Higher Education Data Sharing consortium (HEDS). A team of representatives from numerous liberal arts colleges and universities like EMU developed this survey by adapting an instrument developed by the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault and adapting it to the context of smaller institutions.

Campus Climate Survey EMU will use the results of this survey to inform and improve support, policies, and practices at EMU, including a grant-funded initiative to reduce domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

If you are a student or a member of EMU faculty or staff, you will have received an email invitation to take this survey. Please follow the link provided in the email and complete the survey -- we want to hear your voice.

We would like to hear from all students, faculty and staff at EMU, regardless of your experience with sexual violence, in order to get a comprehensive understanding of the campus climate for sexual violence at our institution. The survey usually takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

Your participation is completely voluntary. We deeply appreciate your cooperation and willingness to provide information that will help us better understand EMU’s climate around sexual violence. We are committed to ensuring that our campus has a safe and supportive environment, and your participation in this survey will help us work toward this goal.

Your responses are completely anonymous, and EMU will only receive a report of responses after they are grouped together with the responses of many other individuals. Any identifying information from the computer on which you take the survey will also be removed before we receive the data.
