EMU residence halls can accommodate up to 690 people.

Northlawn, Cedarwood, Elmwood and Maplewood residence halls, Hillside Suites, and Parkwood Apartments offer 690 beds in air-conditioned comfort.

Northlawn is made up of a combination of furnished suites and standard rooms with a total of 198 beds. Suites are typically 4-6 person with their own bathroom, small living room, and kitchenette. Standard rooms are 1-2 person and share a centrally-located bath. Lounges, laundry facilities and elevator access are available on every floor. The university dining hall is located on the lower level.

Cedarwood, EMU’s newest residence hall, is a “green” residence hall and was built to LEED® standards. All rooms are furnished for 2-3 people with a total of 126 beds. Each floor has four shared baths and three spacious lounges with kitchenettes. Cedarwood has laundry facilities and an elevator.

Elmwood, recently renovated in 2010-11, Elmwood is also a “green” residence hall and was renovated to LEED® standards. Elmwood contains 78 beds consisting of 37 traditional 2 person rooms, and 4 single rooms. Each floor features 1 or 2 centrally located, shared baths and a spacious lounge. Elmwood has laundry facilities and an elevator.

Maplewood, recently renovated in 2011, Maplewood is also a “green” residence hall and was renovated to LEED® standards. Maplewood contains 84 beds consisting of 37 traditional 2 person rooms, 4 single rooms and one 6 person suite with a private bath. Each floor features 1 or 2 centrally located, shared baths and a spacious lounge. Maplewood has laundry facilities and an elevator.

Hillside Suites is made up of 2-4 person suites with a total of 84 beds. Each suite contains a living room, full kitchen, bath, and 2-4 single or 2 double bedrooms. There is a lounge on first floor and an elevator serves second and third floors. Laundry facilities are on each floor.

Parkwood Apartments is composed of two-bedroom apartments in four buildings. The number of summer apartments varies from year to year depending on the number of full-time residents, but about 30 are usually available during the summer. These furnished apartments contain four beds each and feature a shared bath, common living/dining area and kitchen. The kitchen is complete with appliances but is not furnished with dishes, utensils, etc.
