Why Give a Class Gift

Since the founding of EMU in 1917, each graduating class has presented their alma mater with a class gift to benefit the school. You could say it's a "Royal Tradition!"

These gifts have ranged from professors’ desks by the class of 1921 to the student solar panel project by the class of 2018. From the Vesper Heights Observatory on top of the hill (thanks class of 1938!) to the large cross-cultural mural by the class of 2003, these gifts have represented the spirits of the classes that gave them. They have beautified campus, improved services, supported future students, and demonstrated appreciation for the EMU experience in tangible ways.

Other gifts include:

  • The Fish Pond (now Fountain) by the class 1927
  • Bleachers for the gymnasium by the class of 1957
  • Mail boxes for Campus Center by the class of 1985
  • SGA Need-Based Endowed Scholarship by the classes of 1999, 2000, 2001, 2014
  • LEED certified permanent bike shed for Quad & Parkwoods by the class of 2011
  • “Alumni Park” beautification area by the class of 2013
  • Solar Arrays on Roselawn & University Commons by the class of 2018
  • Student Tuition Relief Fund & Black Student Alliance by the class of 2020

The presentation of a gift is not only an act of appreciation on behalf of the seniors but a symbol of the legacy left behind by each person in the graduating class.

What will your class’ legacy be?
