Responsibilities: Campus Activities Council (CAC) builds community within the student body by providing engaging, creative, educational, and positive event & program options for all undergrads. By being a CAC leader (paid or volunteer) you will also have the opportunity to develop and test various skills and passions until the guidance of our professional staff. CAC meets weekly and members sign up for the events they want to work.

Department: Faith and Spiritual Life

Responsibilities: Student chaplains are leaders serving the EMU campus community by nurturing faith and spiritual life in various ways. They select an emphasis such as worship, service, interfaith, sustainability, diversity, equity, inclusion, peacebuilding, community, faith formation, or wellness. Student chaplains meet regularly as a team with the university chaplain and are paid with university work-program funds or volunteer.

Responsibilities: Baristas are responsible for consistently producing quality drinks, selling snacks and other items for sale, handling money, and navigating the POS system, clear and regular communication with other staff and management, maintaining an open and friendly space conducive to studying, hanging out, engaging in ideas with others, and fostering campus community.

Responsibilities: Greet and check in, verify memberships, register guests, collect guest fees. Properly and promptly answer and direct all telephone calls. Accurately process new memberships, renewals, changes and cancellations. Wash, dry and stock sweat towels. Maintain a clean and tidy facility at all times. Understand and enforce policies and procedures of the Fitness Center. Weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities: The International Student Organization (ISO) co-presidents have the creativity, empathy, and energy to guide this important student club for the entire academic year. ISO seeks to provide a safe and fun community space for international and TCK students. The co-presidents of the club take on primary responsibility for the planning and implementation of all the club's events and activities. The co-president positions are elected positions. Responsibilities: Rec Sports staff have the opportunity to be a part of providing a robust Recreational Sports experience for our campus community. Through both administrative (communications, signups, etc.), and on-the-ground leadership (setup, tear down, scorekeeping etc.) you will have the chance to test, grow, and learn about yourself under the guidance of the Coordinator for Rec Sports. Leaders meet once a week to plan and review the recreational sports schedule, and work together to make sure events are ready to go. Must be available evenings and some weekends. Rec Sports aims to provide an energetic and fun atmosphere for everyone to come and participate.

Department: Residence Life
Number of Positions Annually: 25

Position Description: Community Advisors are live-in student staff supporting Residential Students and the Residence Life team. CAs report to and are supported by Area Coordinators. The CA’s primary responsibility is to provide for the support and well-being of EMU residential students through care & support. CAs receive extensive training on a broad array of topics and skills including awareness and providing connections to EMU support services (CARE Team, Counseling, Coachlink, Student Accountability and Restorative Justice), crisis intervention and management; and general administration of the residence hall.  CAs work with other residence life staff in a team approach to residence life. This role is a great opportunity to test, train, and grow in various leadership and other skills under the leadership of trained professional staff. CAs come back to EMU approximately 10 days before the majority of the student body for a training session to prepare them for the upcoming school year.

Responsibilities: Peer Educators will work as a team to create and facilitate programming including workshops, trainings, and awareness events related to sexual and relationship violence prevention. This could include, for example, trainings and workshops for students about healthy relationships, awareness events in Sexual Assault Awareness Month, presentations to classes about consent, or educating student groups about bystander intervention.

Responsibilities: Serve to elevate the conversations that students are engaging to university leadership and vice versa, also organize and lead the work of the senate, serve on university committees and engage with faculty, staff and administrators on campus around campus issues.

Compensation: 2 Co-Presidents + Treasurer are compensated at work study rates (not closed to work study eligible students only). Other executive positions are volunteer based.

Providing front desk coverage for the Student Life Suite (Student Life, Campus Ministries, Student Programs, Housing and Residence Life, and Multicultural and International Student Services): greeting guests, answering the telephone, data entry, filing, running errands, various projects as requested, and other administrative tasks.

Department: Undergraduate Admissions

Responsibilities: Assisting undergraduate admissions with a variety of activities from student panels, interacting with prospective students and providing a welcoming experience to campus during large Admissions Events throughout the year. RA’s also assist with hosting overnight prospective students in their dorm rooms (paid). RA’s have the opportunity to move up and apply to become a tour guide and responsibilities are providing campus tours to campus visitors. Attending monthly meetings and engaging with other current RA’s.
