Cohort Hiring at EMU

students listening to a faculty member in a small group setting in the on-campus coffeeshop.For the 2022-23 academic year, EMU is anticipating a cohort hire focused on recruiting scholars who want to work collaboratively across different disciplines with research agendas and pedagogical commitments that address social justice, racial equity, peacebuilding, restorative justice, non-Western thought, and other areas of study advancing equity and inclusion. The hiring of this cohort aligns with EMU’s commitment to increasing faculty, student, and curricular diversity. We are looking for faculty in the following disciplines:

  • Anatomy, physiology, neurobiology and/or molecular biology
    In particular, we seek those who have teaching experience in the areas of ​​Cadaver-based Anatomy, Physiology, Bioinformatics, Neurobiology, and Molecular/ Cellular Biology. This position is based in Biology and Biomedicine.
  • Computer or electrical engineering or a related field with experience in computer engineering
    In particular, we seek those who have teaching experience in the areas of Digital Circuits, Analog Circuits, Architecture and Operating Systems, Engineering Design, and upper-level CE topics courses. This position is based in Engineering.
  • Sociology, Peace, Justice and Global Studies
    Ph.D. or other terminal degree with teaching experience in the areas of Theories of Social Change, Peacebuilding and Development, and Global Studies. This position is based in sociology, peacebuilding and development.
  • Restorative Justice
    Ph.D. or other terminal degree with knowledge of racial justice and trauma healing as crucial factors in restorative justice work. Teaching experience in the areas of Restorative Justice: Principles, Theories, and Applications and Restorative Justice Practices. This position is based in the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding.
  • Peacebuilding
    Ph.D. or other terminal degree with experience in international and/or domestic peacebuilding processes, including nonviolent mobilization for social change. This position is based in the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding.
  • Social Work
    MSW degree and a minimum of two years practice experience is required. Preferred candidates will possess a Ph.D. The position will carry both teaching and administrative responsibilities. This position is based in the social work program. 
  • Leadership and Management
    Ph.D. or other terminal degree with experience in significant program management and leadership roles. This position is based in the business and leadership program.
  • Seminary- New Testament
    Ph.D. Primary responsibility seminary and undergraduate New Testament and biblical studies, also ability to teach in one or more of the following areas:  restorative justice, peace studies, conflict transformation.
