Steve grew up in Colorado, received his BA from the Univeristy of Colorado, and then taught middle school math and science in Lesotho in southern Africa. After returning to the US, getting married and moving to Indiana, Steve finished a PhD degree at Purdue University. Steve also has a Graduate Certificate in Educational Research Methodology from the University of Illinois, Chicago. At EMU, Steve teaches courses in biochemistry, environmental chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, botany and sustainability.
Dr. Cessna’s research interests involve measuring terpenoid and phenolic compounds, free radical oxidants and anti-oxidants in plants responding to stresses. He also studies science and environmental education.
