Why I Love EMU
I came to EMU from Lancaster, PA looking for a change of scenery, yet still wanting to stay in touch with my Mennonite roots. EMU became so much more to me than I ever expected! I love EMU because education is an experience, not just a lecture. Class sizes are small and composed of students from varying backgrounds creating intimate environments where we learn from each other. Professors do an exceptional job at integrating community involvements into class requirements. Quality connection with friends and professors happened instantly, and even after graduation I still maintain friendships with people I met at EMU.
An Outstanding EMU Memory
My freshman year at EMU my friends convinced me to sign up for a snowboarding course offered at Massanutten Resort, just a short drive from campus. The nights spent on the slopes were rather brutal at first, as I knew nothing about snowboarding, but I quickly caught on and started spending every weekend on the mountain. I met some great people in the class and we whimsically planned a trip to snowboard some of the top mountains in Vermont that same winter. Years later the tradition lives on!
Favorite Things To Do Around Harrisonburg
Harrisonburg and the surrounding areas offer so many great outdoor activities. Some of my favorite include star gazing at Switzer Dam, camping in the George Washington National Forest, and hiking some of the legendary mountains like Old Rag.
