Where in the world is EMU’s Academic Success Center?

The center is located on the third floor of Hartzler Library. A receptionist and undergraduate tutors are on duty Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is a study lounge and other inviting spaces for one-on-one or small group study sessions. Five quiet rooms for individual study or testing are available for students.
How do I get help in a specific course?

Peer tutors at the Academic Success Center offer support in courses of many departments: accounting, Bible, business, economics, history, mathematics, psychology, and the sciences. Schedule an appointment with a tutor on line: ASC Tutoring—quick link on myEMU. Use your royals ID to log on and click on the “make a tutoring appointment” blue button.
Is anyone available to help me write a paper?

The Center has several writing tutors. Some tutors are available by appointment and some have on-call hours. Sign up for a writing tutor the same way as for a class (see ASC Tutoring). If a tutor has on-call hours, a student may email him/her to arrange for an appointment.
What if I need help in a math class?

Many peer tutors at the ASC provide individual help in a variety of math courses from Foundations of Math to Calculus. The Center teams with the Mathematics Department to provide Foundations of Math tutoring and testing.
What if I have difficulty managing my time to complete all my college assignments?

Linda Gnagey, director of the academic success center, enjoys talking with students who need help in time management or academic coaching. Linda may suggest a peer-mentor/coach to provide organizational and time management support.
I have a disability that affects my learning. Is support available?

The Office of Academic Access is part of the ASC. The academic access coordinator seeks to serve all students, specifically serving as an advocate for those with documented disabilities. Faculty and staff support individual students who use reasonable accommodations in the classroom due to documented needs. The academic access coordinator fosters the development and use of strategies to promote independence and personal success.
