Organizations listed reflect sites where the Washington Semester has recently placed students or those that are currently looking for interns. Urban Gardening, Agriculture, & Nutrition
- Common Good City Farm – urban farm and education center that grows food for low-income residents in Washington, DC and provides educational opportunities to increase food security, improve health, and contribute to environmental sustainability.
- ECO City Farms – educational, nonprofit enterprise designed to serve as a prototype for sustainable local farming.
- Neighborhood Farm Initiative – promotes collaborative, sustainable food cultivation in the urban setting.
Environmental Restoration Programs
- Anacostia Watershed Society – works to clean up and restore the Anacostia River through education, stewardship, and recreation, such as educational canoe trips.
- Smithsonian Museum of Natural History – national museum and educational institution that acts as a research resource center, works to preserve records of flora and fauna, and educates the public.
- Earth Conservation Corps – works with low-income youth to promote environmental stewardship and clean up the Anacostia River.
- National Park Service – headquarters and local national parks work with environmental conservation and education.
- National Religious Partnership for the Environment – interfaith organization educates and advocates around environmental issues and policy.
