Group Therapy

Group counseling is a useful avenue for addressing a variety of issues while connecting with peers in a confidential setting. Counseling Services’ clinicians guide and facilitate small groups, roughly 4-6, who meet weekly to share and process their concerns with one another. Groups tend to address and process a symptom, particular experience, or identity. We offer a few groups each semester. Please read below to view a list of current groups offered. If you are interested in any of the listed groups, please email counselingservices@emu.edu to learn more.

Reasons why group therapy may be for you:

  •  Connect with your peers
  • Learn how you are perceived by others
  • Experience a sense of acceptance and belonging
  • Discover that you are not alone in the difficulties you are experiencing
  • Hear ideas from others which enhance your ability to make decisions and solve problems
  • Benefit from the experience of being helpful to others
  • Learn to constructively express your feelings and thoughts to others
  • Gain encouragement by observing the progress of others
