Solar Solutionary Camp
June 10-14, 2024
Help make our local community and those afar more sustainable! Students who register, will learn about solar energy in the context of deploying a solar suitcase from We Share Solar to Africa for students who need electricity. Students will gain a better understanding of the problems surrounding energy access and the extent of the issue as well as the coexisting issue of climate change. The students will be challenged with ensuring access to electricity for the nearly one-billion people who lack it today while keeping climate change below 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming. They will accomplish this through building a solar suitcase. Students will be divided into teams – assembly engineers, quality control engineers, reporters, community relations, and artists and each team will have a set of tasks and deliverables essential to the deployment of the suitcase. This camp will include field trips to local solar facilities with more details to come!
