Rev. Courtney C. Joyner instructs students in the areas of spiritual and ministry formation for both the Seminary and the undergraduate Bible, Religion, and Theology program. She also serves as the Director of the Thriving in Minstry Grant, Director of Mentored Ministry, and Director of the Ministry Inquiry Program. She is currently working on her doctoral thesis at Wesley Theological Seminary focusing on Clergy Traumatic Stress.
Rev. Joyner is an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church with extensive ministry experience. She has served several churches in the Charlottesville, Staunton, and Harrisonburg areas both as pastor and as minister of music. She has a passion for mentoring United Methodist ministry candidates through the process of credentialing and ordination. She is also deeply involved in interfaith dialogue between the Christian and Jewish communities.
