Ryan joined Eastern Mennonite University in October 2023 after an 11-year adventure in print magazines and newspapers. Before arriving at EMU's Marketing and Communications department, Ryan served as copy desk chief for Ogden Newspapers' regional design hub. There, he managed a team of six copyeditors and page designers that published four daily newspapers — the Daily News-Record, Northern Virginia Daily, Winchester Star and Martinsburg Journal — four weekly papers and countless special sections that subscribers looked forward to reading each day. 

The University of Missouri alumnus has contributed articles for Northern Virginia Magazine, the Prince William Times, the Northern Virginia Daily and the Daily News-Record. Some of his work includes stories about the last deer farm in Virginia, the early years of the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad and the best places to snag a bowl of pho.

In his free time, Ryan enjoys making pourover coffee, playing board games and relaxing with his wife Kristin and cats, Cappuccino and Clementine.
