EMU’s Summer Art Academy for Children and Youth

Letter from the Director

Welcome to EMU’s premier Summer Art Academy for children and youth! We’re so excited to offer an art program for your children on our beautiful campus. I’ve been teaching art at summer camps and programs for 20 years. This program offers small classes with lots of attention for each child and the university’s art studios and campus as our classroom! Summer Art Academy is a unique experience for students interested in exploring the techniques and language of painting and drawing. Immersive opportunities like this allow students to grow, and we have a lot of fun in the process.

If your child loves art, check out our classes below!

Hope to see you and your young artist here this summer,

Cyndi

Cyndi Gusler holds an MFA in Painting and Drawing from JMU. She is a  Professor of Visual Arts at EMU.

Currently in her Chestnut Art Studio are oil paintings exploring the volatile and ever-changing coastal region of the US. Additionally, Gusler actively engages with her immediate landscape, creating paintings that begin in her garden and end her imagined reality. Daydreams is an evolving playground of imagery that grounds the artist and allows her to fly. Her paintings invite viewers to enter and explore in the color-saturated richness.
