College Republicans

College Republicans seek to promote political engagement on the Eastern Mennonite University campus. This club is intended to create a space for conservative opinions but is welcoming to all opinions conservative or otherwise. We hope to create an atmosphere of cooperation between EMU students to better develop bipartisan conversations. In recognition of the political divide within the nation, College Republicans intends to promote ideas of cooperation and civic engagement to create a welcoming and prosperous atmosphere on the EMU campus.

Goals of College Republicans

  • Participate in national, statewide, and local elections through voter registration, establishing forums to explore candidate values, facilitating possible internship opportunities, and assisting with campaigns where appropriate
  • Collaborate with other political groups on campus and in the surrounding community
  • Hosting guests and speakers to lead in discussions of current political events
  • Promote political engagement through events on campus

Affiliations                                         

The College Republicans are open to affiliation with other like minded groups from other universities, public institutions, or private organizations. A further goal of the club is  to cooperate with EMU’s Young Democrats and encourage bipartisan discourse.         

Membership  

The College Republicans will hold no restrictions. Any student, faculty and staff of Eastern Mennonite University are welcome to join the club. Even though the majority of discourse and the majority of the topics that will be engaged with at club meetings will be about conservative viewpoints and ideals, those beliefs are to some extent not required for membership of the club as we are encouraging of dialogue.
