This week, as promised, Dave provides background information and rationale for why EMU does not fly the American flag or play the National Anthem before athletic events. He refers to the statement that President Swartzendruber has written on the issue as well as sharing some of his personal experiences having worked in Mennonite educational institutions during his career in athletics. Dave also shares an excerpt from the book Mind Gym that all freshmen are reading. The chapter he refers to deals with the issue of not getting playing time or “riding the pine”.
