With passion towards community building and education, Shannon Dycus has spent 15 years working in learning communities and ministry settings. Before EMU, she was co-pastor at First Mennonite Church in Indianapolis, IN supporting the spiritual formation of that community through preaching and teaching. With Franklin University of Ohio, she supported student success in admissions and advising while also teaching Transitions courses and in the philosophy department. Before congregational and higher education, her ministry was in secondary teaching and after school program leadership.
Shannon holds a degree in Secondary Education from Butler University (IN), received her Master of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary (IN) and completed her Doctor of Ministry in Public Theology from United Theological Seminary (MN). With passion for holistically journeying with people, Shannon is also a trained spiritual director through San Francisco Theological Seminary. Shannon is active in writing and worship development roles with Mennonite Church USA and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), publishing the 2019 Women's Bible Study Every Time I Feel the Spirit and the 2023 advent devotional The Holy in the Night with Herald Press.
As Vice President of Student Affairs, Equity, and Belonging, her primary focus is to support a strategic vision for co-curricular learning communities that promote social accountability, holistic well-being, and academic success for all students.
