Andrea is a Harrisonburg native and grew up in the Shenandoah Valley. She is a 2022 graduate from EMU who completed her BS in Environmental Sustainability. As a student, she was active in Earthkeepers, Creation Care Council, and was a Climate Ambassador for the Anabaptist Climate Collaborative. She also was an athlete on the Women’s Volleyball team. Andrea has also worked for various local farms and volunteered at New Community Project’s Vine and Fig in downtown Harrisonburg.

Post graduation, Andrea moved to Tucson, Arizona to participate in Mennonite Voluntary Service, a year long service program through Mennonite Mission Network. She worked as the River Run Network Program Coordinator with Watershed Management Group, leading events throughout the watershed in the Sonoran Desert. She also worked as the Coordinator for the Santa Cruz Watershed Collaborative, which engages with water professionals, municipalities, and tribal nations about water conservation practices and initiatives in southeast Arizona.

She is eager to utilize the skills and experiences she learned in her position at EMU. Andrea is passionate about climate justice, advocating for change, and connecting people with land and place. She’s excited to interact with students about sustainability and support efforts on campus related to Climate Action. In the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, her hopes are to amplify efforts where DEI and sustainability practices intersect and how they relate to the values and mission of EMU.

During her free time, you can find Andrea digging in a garden, admiring insects, wandering through the woods, playing volleyball, watercoloring, or reading a book on the EMU hill.
