EMU joins Prejudice to Pluralism Cohort

National initiative addresses antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of bigotry on college campuses

EMU has been selected to join the inaugural Prejudice to Pluralism Cohort, a national initiative led by Interfaith America to advance pluralism and address rising levels of antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of bigotry.

This cohort experience equips senior higher education leaders with knowledge, resources, and support to cultivate campus environments grounded in respect for diverse identities, engagement across deep differences, and cooperation around shared concerns, according to a press release from Interfaith America.

In addition to EMU, the cohort comprises:

  • George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia
  • Haverford College, Haverford, Pennsylvania
  • Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts
  • Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, Alabama
  • University of California, Los Angeles
  • University of Maryland, College Park
  • University of Massachusetts Amherst
  • Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York

EMU will receive support through a community of practice, advising from Interfaith America, and grants of $20,000 to implement campus-based projects designed to reduce prejudice and strengthen pluralism, with an emphasis on restorative practice and design, the release states.
