PXD: A Blog of the Peacebuilding & Development Program aims to provide an online space for our students, alumni, faculty, and program partners to connect, share stories, and raise awareness about our shared work for peace and justice.
The Peacebuilding & Development (PXD) Program is part of the Department of Applied Social Sciences at Eastern Mennonite University. Our program equips students to think critically, clearly, and creatively about the most pressing global challenges and provides an opportunity for students to discover their vocation, explore their passions, and become an active and engaged member of their community.
The PXD program prepares students for professional practice in the fields of peacebuilding and international and community development. It focuses on conflict transformation, restorative justice, and understanding and promoting constructive social change toward peace, justice, and well-being for people in situations affected by conflict, poverty, and inequality. Opportunities for community engagement include the student Peace Fellowship as well as practicum placements. Our program is uniquely enriched, with an accelerated master’s degree, by the presence of the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at EMU which draws justice, peacebuilding, and development practitioners from around the world.
