Show up together April 7 for LovEMU Giving Day!

The 2021 LovEMU Giving Day theme of “Forward Together” is a rallying cry. Whether the picture that springs to mind in your head for LovEMU Day is the good friends or even your life partner you met here, the finding of your vocation, your sense of community, a favorite spot on campus, or that favorite faculty of staff member, we invite you to join us for the great fifth annual 24-hour giving day extravaganza, in which alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and friends come together to support and celebrate the university we all love.

LovEMU Giving Day on Wednesday, April 7 is a way to show that love, and helps the next generation of students have their very own EMU experience.

This year’s event features $100,000 in challenge match funds, nearly as much as we raised in our first annual giving day. We’ve come a long way since then, thanks to you!

Help us set a new record!

For the fifth consecutive year, you can help EMU to set a new giving record! (Last year, with help from rallying donors across all 50 states and an impromptu head-shaving challenge, we raised a record $214,683, and we’re hoping to exceed that goal this year!)

As EMU and our students continue to be challenged by the global pandemic, our University Fund for Resilience and Student Tuition Relief Fund are among the featured funds of the day. But we encourage you to give to any fund close to your heart.

With each $10 (or more!) gift, you can vote for your favorite academic program, athletic team, or student club, and the winner in each category will receive $1,000! In addition to supporting the mission of EMU as a whole, it’s a great way to pay homage to the campus experiences that means the most to you. Every gift of $10 or more is a vote cast for your favorite!

Follow the challenges!

Check out the LoveEMU Giving Day website throughout the day to watch the dollars and votes rise and see if challenges have been met.

  • The leaderboards will again be active for athletic teams, academic programs, and student orgs.
  • Stay tuned in for the challenge matches, including the returning favorites like the 19:17 Challenge and 50 States (and Beyond!) Challenge, where we attempt to get gifts from Royals all over the US and beyond to unlock a whopping $10,000. Reach out to your friends in those hard to reach states!
  • New and improved challenges await, including Belong Together (2-5 p.m.), focused on increasing belongingness on campus for all students through the new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Fund.

Our EMU Facebook Live page will be the main headquarters. Check in with host Braydon Hoover ‘11, director of development and annual giving. There will be unique videos of the student experience and some friendly contests for EMU gear.

Save Braydon’s Hair (maybe?)

Who knows where else the day will lead us? Will #SaveBraydonsHair resurface? It’s all about participation. Your gift of $10 or $100 is needed as much as if not more so than gifts of $10K. Can we break our records again this year?
