Dr. Evan Wenger, director of the Augusta Medical Center Sleep Disorders Laboratory, will speak at the next Suter Science Seminar on April 4.
What some people would give for a good night’s sleep.
The importance of sleep, and how sleep disorders affect daily activities, is the subject of the next Suter Science Seminar.
Dr. Evan Wenger, director of the Augusta Medical Center Sleep Disorders Laboratory, Fishersville, Va., will speak on “Narcolepsy: When REM Sleep Goes Bad,” 4 p.m. Friday, Apr. 4, in room 104 of the Suter Science Center at EMU.
According to Wenger, “Sleep is not a monolithic state of being. Conditions such as narcolepsy provide a window into the organization of sleep.”
Wenger will highlight research that is steadily uncovering the underlying pathology leading to narcolepsy and providing greater understanding of how sleep is orchestrated through various central nervous system processes.
Refreshments will be served 15 minutes prior to the presentation. Admission to the program is free.
