The EMU Chamber Singers and the University Chorale will offer a shared concert of Christmas music on the theme, “What Child is This,” 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, in Martin Chapel of the seminary building.
The 37-voice Chamber Singers, directed by Kenneth J. Nafziger, professor of music, will present seasonal selections by New Zealand composer David Yardley, South Carolina composer Dan Forrest, Harrisonburg composer-arranger Randy Budnikas, and several new carols from the “Sing the Story” hymnal that will invite audience participation.
The 37-voice University Chorale, directed by Matthew W. Hunsberger, will sing two movements from Antonin Vivaldi’s “Gloria” as well as several carols, including an arrangement of “Silent Night” by Venezuelan composer Cesar Carrillo, an Early American folk carol by Daniel Read, and a lesser-known carol by Michael Praetorius.
Admission to the program is free; donations are welcomed for the EMU music department student scholarship fund.
