A group of 23 Eastern Mennonite University students who spent the fall semester in a cross-cultural study tour in Switzerland and Italy reflected on their life-changing experiences in the last chapel service of the fall semester Dec. 13.

In their presentation, one group contrasted travel by bus in Switzerland with public transportation in Italy.
One student said that visiting and worshiping in a cave in Switzerland where early Anabaptists sought refuge from persecution made him appreciate the religious freedom that is easily taken for granted.
While the majority of their time was spent in Switzerland and Italy, the group made stops in 14 European countries and encountered nine languages during their time abroad.
EMU student groups will spend the second semester in cross-cultural study programs in Latin America, India and Spain.
