There’s nothing quite like floating on a river or lake in the mountains surrounding the Shenandoah Valley. Students in the EMU Explore club would like to give the EMU canoes some much needed repair and replacement so they can continue to enjoy this beloved activity for years to come.
EMU owns 8 canoes that are regularly used by student clubs, groups and athletic teams to get out into nature and explore the beautiful landscape of the Shenandoah Valley. These canoes are all over 10 years old and the three oldest ones are no longer water-worthy.
$4,200 will replace the three canoes in the worst condition. EMU student programs will add $500 for repairs to the remaining canoes and the university will put in an additional $1,000 to support repair and upgrading the safety of the trailer that is used to haul the canoes.
EMU Explore is a student club founded to experience caving, hiking, rock climbing and yes, canoeing. Support this project, sponsored by EMU Explore, to give students a chance to continue learning together about the rich resource of the Shenandoah Valley landscape.
