Christine Kindler is an assistant professor of psychology and core faculty at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her work centers on expanding access to community-based mental health interventions that are evidence-based, culturally responsive, and restorative. Beyond symptom reduction, she is committed to addressing the structural drivers of mental health disparities, including community violence, civil unrest, and the legacies of conflict and displacement.
She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Howard University and a master’s degree in Conflict Transformation from Eastern Mennonite University. Her scholarship has been recognized by the United States Institute of Peace, which awarded her a 2022–23 Peace Scholar Fellowship for her dissertation project. This work, conducted in partnership with the Christian Action for Reconciliation and Social Assistance in Rwanda, focused on facilitating intergenerational dialogue between survivors of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and Rwandan youth.
