Over 10 years of experience in delivering and managing international and US education programs in contexts of basic education, youth workforce development, accelerated education, tertiary, and adult education. Progressive levels of responsibility while delivering high-quality management support to portfolio of USAID-funded projects. Helps teams manage contract deliverables, meet donor reporting requirements and compliance needs. Strong knowledge of implementing activities in compliance of USAID rules and regulations and experience with USG procurement mechanisms including cooperative agreements, time and materials contracts, GSA Multiple Award Schedules, and cost plus fixed-fee contracts. Earned PMD Pro certificate in Project Management in Development and a professional certificate from Georgetown University in Strategy and Performance Management. Completed Humentum training for USAID Rules and Regulations: Grants and Cooperative Agreements. Completes in-country STTA assignments to support project implementation. Assists business development activities with research and proposal development.
In addition to project implementation, Detwiler-Michelson co-leads EDC’s Task Team on Societal Resilience and Peacebuilding, and supports senior management in implementing special initiatives for knowledge management. Detwiler-Michelson holds a Master of Arts in Conflict Transformation from the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding, where he received extensive training in conflict-sensitive program design, systems theory, facilitation, theories of change, trauma awareness, restorative justice and dignity-based approaches. He has lived in Syria and Lebanon and has a working knowledge of colloquial Arabic.
