Eastern Mennonite University’s Board of Trustees is accepting applications for the interim president position, the Interim Presidential Search Committee announced Monday in an email to all faculty, staff and students.
A page on EMU’s website listing the position description and application process states that the board is seeking an “innovative and collaborative” interim president to take office on July 1, 2025, and serve for a minimum of two years.
Applications may be submitted in confidence to president.interim@emu.edu by including a letter of intent addressing how the candidate’s experiences match the position requirements, along with a current CV or resume. Applications must be submitted by Monday, Feb. 10, 2025.

About EMU
Founded in 1917, EMU is an educational institution of Mennonite Church USA. The university offers rigorous academic study at the undergraduate, graduate, and seminary levels and confers degrees in the liberal arts, applied sciences, and professions. More than 2,000 students are enrolled in programs at three locations (main campus in Harrisonburg, Virginia; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Washington, D.C.) and online.
It seems to me that someone with the capabilities you mention should be appointed as president, not only as an interim a minimum for two (or more) years. Serving as interim does not lend itself well to EMU’s much-needed “innovative and collaborative” long-term goals.
