Volleyball women earn Team Academic Award

The Eastern Mennonite University women’s volleyball team was one of 173 NCAA D-III and a record 973 overall to earn the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.

To be eligible for the AVCA Team Academic Award, a team must maintain a 3.3 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.

EMU women’s volleyball poses with relief supplies last fall. The team raised more than $700 in 48 hours.

In addition, EMU earned recognition as a team which reached their Dig Pink fundraising goal.

The team also raised money for and purchased hurricane relief supplies last fall.

The Royals advanced to the 2017 ODAC Tournament, marking the first time in a decade the team qualified for the postseason tourney. With an overall record of 11-17, the women staked their best winning percentage and also tied for the most wins in a season, both since 2001.
