Posted on April 2nd, 2009

The EMU Jazz Ensemble will be in concert 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Apr. 8, in EMU’s Lehman Auditorium. The eight-member group, directed by Jim Warner, will play a broad repertoire of classic and contemporary jazz tunes. EMU senior Lena Risser will provide vocal accompaniment on selections by Frank N. Wildhorn, George Gershwin and Rogers & Hart. Warner, who also directs the EMU Wind Ensemble, taught in public schools for 34 years in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia, most of this time as director of bands at Harrisonburg High School. He retired from HHS in July, 2005. Admission to the concert is free; donations are welcomed for the EMU music student scholarship fund.
