Chamber Singers To Embark on Brief Tour

The Chamber Singers, a select student choir at Eastern Mennonite University, will present program of worship in music at four locations on a weekend tour.

They will sing 11 a.m. Sunday, Apr. 2, at Hyattsville (MD) Mennonite Church, 4217 East-West Hwy.; 7 p.m. Apr. 2 at Bossler Mennonite Church, 2021 Bossler Rd., Elizabethtown, Pa.; 8:15 a.m. Monday, Apr. 3, at Lancaster (PA) Mennonite School, 2176 Lincoln Highway East; and 12:40 p.m. Apr. 3 at Shalom Christian Academy, 126 Social Island Rd., Chambersburg, Pa.

The 29-voice choir, under the direction of Kenneth J. Nafziger, will feature a variety of choral music and hymns. The programs will also include congregational singing.

Dr. Nafziger is professor of music at EMU. His teaching responsibilities include directing the EMU Chamber Singers and courses in conducting, interdisciplinary humanities and world music. Nafziger is also artistic director and conductor of the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival held in June each year on the EMU campus.

Nafziger was music editor of "Hymnal: a Worship Book," released in 1992, and editor of its Accompaniment Handbook (1993). He is co-author of the book, "Singing: a Mennonite Voice."

Free-will offerings will be taken at the church settings.
