Members of the Eastern Mennonite University women’s basketball team pass through a "tunnel of applause" as part of a recognition and sendoff at the close of a chapel service Mar. 10. The team will leave campus Mar. 11 to compete in the NCAA Division III national tournament at the University of
Wisconsin at Stevens Point.
The Lady Royals are scheduled to play Hardin-Simmons University of Abilene, Tex., Mar. 12. EMU advanced to the "sweet sixteen" round on Mar. 6 by edging Christopher Newport University, 63-62, with a basket at the buzzer by sophomore guard/forward Laura Ludholtz. It is the first time an EMU women’s basketball team has advanced to the NCAA nationals. The NCAA final four championship will be played Mar. 19-20 at Virginia Wesleyan College, Virginia Beach.
