Ram Bhagat is a longtime educator, arts innovator, and peacemaker. He is a former public school teacher with more than 30 years of experience. Dr. Bhagat is a specialist in arts integration. This award winning science teacher created an innovative curriculum using drumming, dance, and drama to teach chemistry and anatomy. He is an international conflict resolution trainer, expert in culturally responsive circles, certified in trauma healing and restorative justice practices. Currently, Dr. Bhagat is manager of school culture and climate strategy for Richmond City Public Schools. Ram is the co-founder of Drums No Guns Foundation and the visionary behind the Richmond Youth Peace Project. He was previously board president of The Conciliation Project, which uses active and challenging dramatic works to promote open and honest dialogue about race and oppression in America in order to repair its damaging legacy. Ram is also a certified yoga teacher. He is currently developing a program called Massive Resilience: Transforming Historical Harms in Schools and Communities, which integrates arts based, trauma sensitive, mindfulness based, restorative practices in racially and economically segregated schools. Dr. Bhagat resides in Richmond, Virginia with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
