Child Protection Advisor in United Nations
2010: I am now working at the United Nations in New York City as a child protection specialist. I am now responsible for a larger area, including Nepal and Africa.
2008: Now in Kathmandu, I am working for United Nations Mission in Nepal as a Child Protection Advisor. I am involved in facilitating discharge of child soldiers from the Maoist army and ensuring their rehabilitation. We very closely work with UNICEF, UNDP and other national and international organizations.
Just recently Chimene ( my colleague) and I planned and organized the visit of Special Representative of Secretary General for Children and Arms Conflict, Ms. Radhika Coomaraswamy, to Nepal. It was a very fruitful visit and we received very positive feedback for steering this highly successful visit. This is the first time in two-and-a-half years that highest Maoist leadership and Prime Minister have personally committed to facilitate the release of Child soldiers from Maoist cantonments.
So work has been very satisfying and I feel that my education at CJP is very useful.
