New Director of Athletics Carrie Bert and EMU’s coaches are preparing to welcome athletes competing in fall sports to campus later this week. Approximately 90 are new recruits looking to make their mark on the ODAC and at EMU.

Cross Country
Hailing from Colorado to Pennsylvania, the men’s and women’s cross country team welcomes 11 new recruits, including a standout transfer from Penn State. Read more.

Women’s Soccer
Coach Ted Erickson announced seven new athletes to his team, including a new goalkeeper, three forward/midfielders and three defenders. Their fall campaign kicks off Sept. 1 against Randolph.
Men’s Soccer
First-year head coach Justin Carey begins his season with 11 new faces, coming from nearby Culpepper and Fredericksburg to farther afield. Read more about the athletes and meet Coach Carey.
Field Hockey
Coach Ashley “Stick” Kishorn‘s new recruits include several star athletes. “We are excited to bring in such a large recruiting class full of potential,” she says. “This group will boost our roster size into the twenties for the first time since at least the year 2000. This group brings great energy to the program and will elevate our competitive play as they fight to earn spots in the lineup.”
These athletes shared why they were drawn to EMU, naming everything from the small class size to the quality of relationships with prospective teammates and coaches that they experienced on overnight trips and other visits to campus. Read more.
Women’s Volleyball
Nine recruits join Coach Casey Steinbrecher‘s squad, representing Radford, Thomas Dale, Wilson Memorial, Charlotte Catholic, Strasburg, Carroll County, Western Branch, Lyndon Academy, and William Monroe high schools. Read more.
“It was a campus that I felt welcomed on and the team was welcoming,” said outside hitter and defensive specialist Mara Woolford. “The volleyball program was one that stood out to me as it had goals to reach towards and has an environment where I feel I can reach my potential.”
