Propelling the Eastern Mennonite softball women to the best start in program history, senior Mariah Foltz (Broadway, Va./Broadway) has been named the ODAC Player of the Week.
In EMU’s six games last week, Foltz hit .412 with nine runs and four RBIs. She had three multi-hit games and also earned six walks against no strikeouts. In Wednesday’s win over King’s, Foltz was a perfect 2-for-2 with two walks at the plate, scoring three runs while driving in a fourth.
The third baseman was also a defensive catalyst, committing just one error in 17 chances.
The Royals are 8-0 on the season, the best start in the 38 years of EMU’s program, and are the final remaining undefeated team in the ODAC.
Including the previous Sunday’s games, which were part of the previous week for player of the week consideration, Foltz is eighth in the ODAC with a .516 on-base percentage. She leads EMU with 11 runs scored and is tied for second with seven RBIs. Foltz has personally accounted for 33% of the team’s 55 runs.
A two-time All-ODAC player, this is the first ODAC Player of the Week award for Foltz.
The Royals return to action on Thursday at Mary Baldwin. The women have home doubleheaders scheduled for Friday against Southern Vermont and Sunday against Mary Washington.
