EMU’s RaShawn Latimer (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) has been named All-ODAC Third Team in a vote of the league’s men’s basketball coaches. The junior was playing his best ball by the end of the season, finishing with a career-best mark of 13.9 points per game.
Latimer scored in double figures in 20 of 26 games this year, including nine of his last ten contests. The 6-0 wing, who also played guard for a stretch late in the season, tied or broke his career high in scoring four times over the final eight games, including a high of 28 in Monday’s tournament loss at Washington and Lee.
Connecting on 59-of-118 three pointers, Latimer was second in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with a 50% shooting clip from long range. He finished with a 47.4% shooting mark overall and was 10th in the ODAC in scoring average.
Three times he scored 21 or more points, including 26 against Lynchburg on Feb. 4 when he hit 6-of-9 triples. Against W&L, he nailed 6-of-8.
The Runnin Royals finished with a record of 10-16 overall and 4-12 in the ODAC, mostly derailed by key injuries during the year. For the second straight season, the men had no seniors on the roster.
