Sophomore outfielder Jaylon Lee named All-Region

EMU’s Jaylon Lee (Newport News, Va./Denbigh) was selected to the 2019 ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team as voted on by the members of the American Baseball Coaches Association. The sophomore earned a spot on the Second Team South Region.

Lee exploded on the scene in his second season to reach program top-ten feats in runs, RBIs, triples, and home runs. He batted .320 on the season while providing power behind his offensive production to hit ten home runs, ten doubles, four triples, and 42 RBIs. Lee posted a .640 slugging percentage as half of his 48 total hits went for extra bases.

Jaylon was a consistent hitter in the middle of the lineup to help put the Diamond Royals in the ODAC Tournament for the first time since 2015. He held an 11-game hit streak in the middle of the season highlighted by five home runs during that span.

Recently announced Head Baseball Coach Adam Posey expressed the strides Lee has made in his second year in the program.

“Our program is extremely excited and proud of what Jaylon has accomplished on the field this season,” Posey said. “His work ethic, coupled with his maturation and desire to learn, have helped elevate Jaylon into a dynamic and elite territory as a player. He will also be the first to tell you that this award isn’t singular in nature, but is something to be shared with his teammates who have helped him to his success. Jaylon epitomizes what it means to be a Diamond Royal athletically, academically, socially, and spiritually and we are excited to continue to see him grow along with our program.”

Lee was one of 12 men from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference to earn a spot on the three All-Region Teams, and just one of four on the Second Team.
